Tim Woods is a Professor in the Department of English & Creative Writing at Aberystwyth University. He was awarded a Personal Chair for his contributions to literary studies, focusing on 20th and 21st-century writing, African literatures in English, and postmodernist theory. His academic career spans roles as Head of Department (2003-2008), Dean of the Faculty of Arts (2008-2017), and Pro Vice-Chancellor (2017-2024), where he led initiatives for the Quality Assurance Agency and Teaching Excellence Framework.

Woods’s research explores the intersections of ethics and literature, historical memory in modernist and postmodernist works, and British/American poetic traditions. His current projects include a book on 1950s-60s American poetry in New England and studies of Anglo-Welsh modernist poetry and African narratives of detention.
