معرفی
Tim Swaab is a researcher at the University of Groningen specializing in transplantation medicine. He serves as Secretary and Researcher for the European Pancreas Transplant Research Consortium (EPTRC) since 2020, and is an active member of the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT) and Dutch Association for Transplantation (NTV). He also holds an editorial position at Transplant journal since May 2024.
His research centers on kidney and pancreas transplantation outcomes, with particular expertise in skeletal muscle assessment and intrarenal hemodynamics. He investigates how body composition metrics derived from CT imaging predict functional recovery post-transplantation, and examines atherosclerosis-intrarenal resistance relationships in transplant recipients. His work bridges surgical practice with quantitative imaging biomarkers to optimize donor selection and recipient care.
Recent publications reveal a cohesive research trajectory: establishing reference values for muscle health in living donors, validating CT-based body composition as prognostic tools, comparing induction therapies in pancreas-kidney transplants, and analyzing vascular health impacts. This body of work demonstrates increasing sophistication in applying tomographic measurements to solve clinical transplantation challenges.
Through his EPTRC leadership and editorial role, Swaab actively shapes European research collaborations in pancreas transplantation while disseminating critical advancements through peer-reviewed channels. His external positions complement university-based research to drive innovation in transplant medicine.
