Tim Livsey is an Assistant Professor in History at Northumbria University since 2019. Previously, he taught at King’s College London, LSE, Leeds Beckett University, and the University of Oxford, with visiting roles at Columbia and Princeton. His research focuses on decolonization through archives, urban spaces, and universities. He holds a PhD in History (2014) and PGCE (2003).
His work explores 'migrated archives' covertly removed by British authorities, urban planning in Lagos, and Nigerian university history. He co-produced teaching resources on migrated archives and led a collaborative project creating the film 'Reading Pepys' about post-imperial social housing in London. His 2017 monograph Nigeria’s University Age re-examines universities’ role in decolonization.

He received AHRC funding for his migrated archives project and has published widely in History Workshop Journal, Journal of African History, and others.
