Tim Hollibaugh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Education at Grinnell College and head coach of the Pioneer baseball program, entering his 29th season. He also serves as assistant head coach for the football team and holds endorsements from the American Sport Education Program (ASEP) and Program for Athletic Coaches’ Education (PACE).
His educational background includes:
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Sociology from Hanover College, where he was a two-sport athlete in baseball and football
- Master's degree in Physical Education with teaching emphasis from Indiana State University
Hollibaugh's professional focus centers on baseball coaching methodology, athletic development, and recruiting strategies. His expertise is demonstrated through numerous published articles and frequent speaking engagements at coaching clinics, bridging academic theory with practical sports education.
His coaching accolades include:
- 9-time MWC South Division Coach of the Year (2010-2012, 2014-2017)
As a mentor, Hollibaugh has guided student-athletes to unprecedented success including Jacob Chavez (first Grinnell player in professional baseball) and multiple All-America honorees. His teams have secured 8 conference championships since 2000 with program-record seasons in 2010 (23 wins) and 2016 (30 wins), achieving his 400th career victory in 2021.
He leads the Grinnell College Pioneers baseball program that has dominated Midwest Conference play with 98-51 conference record over nine seasons and 116 total wins since 2016, including an unbeaten divisional season in 2010 – the first since 1969.
