معرفی
Professor Tim Guilford is a faculty member in the Biology Department at the University of Oxford, specializing in Animal Behaviour. He leads the Oxford Navigation Group (OxNav), focusing on understanding animal navigation mechanisms, spatial cognition, and conservation ecology. His research employs advanced technologies like GPS loggers, on-board cameras, and computational engineering tools, using homing pigeons and seabirds as primary models.
Research Interests: Professor Guilford investigates how animals map environments, particularly in long-distance migratory species such as seabirds. His work bridges cognitive and ecological disciplines, addressing questions about spatial knowledge, navigation cues, and conservation implications for vulnerable species.
Labs/Teams: He oversees the OxNav Group, which includes specialized labs for seabirds, pigeons, and fish. Collaborations with alumni and funding bodies support interdisciplinary projects. Graduate students and postdoctoral researchers contribute to ongoing studies, including marine conservation and spatial cognition.
Public Engagement: He promotes biological science through TV/radio outreach, enhancing public understanding of ecological and behavioral research.
