Tim Gould

Associate Professor Tim Gould leads theoretical quantum chemistry research at Griffith University's Queensland Micro and Nanotechnology Centre. His work develops density functional theory methods for accurate materials modeling, focusing on excited states, dispersion forces, and electrolyte solutions.

Current projects include ARC-funded research on quantum chemistry for energy applications and collaborative work on 2D materials design. Methodological advances include ensemble DFT approaches and high-accuracy solvation models.

Publications appear in leading physics and chemistry journals, with recent work on excited-state functionals and electrolyte simulations. Research has been featured in Nature Italy and Physics Magazine.

Supervision includes doctoral candidates working on energy storage materials, electrocatalysts, and theoretical methods development. Teaches applied mathematics with emphasis on computational techniques.
