His research interests lie in Romanticism, with a focus on intersections between colonialism, science, exploration, and religion. His work often examines the role of laboring-class poets like Robert Bloomfield and Henry Kirke White, as well as major figures such as William Wordsworth, S. T. Coleridge, and John Clare. He is currently preparing scholarly editions of Robert Southey and Humphry Davy's letters.
Fulford has published extensively on topics such as the romantic poet's cultural image, ecopoetics, and science-literature interactions. His work reveals trends in examining how Romantic-era writers engaged with scientific exploration, geological aesthetics, and democratization of knowledge.
His professional contributions include memberships in distinguished editorial boards and research panels. He has also explored pedagogical aspects related to Romanticism and Gothic literature in teaching contexts.
