Tim Ford

Tim Ford is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Paediatrics in the UWA Medical School, The University of Western Australia. His research focuses on pediatric infectious diseases, vaccine safety, and public health strategies. He actively contributes to global goals in reducing infectious disease burdens (UN SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being).

Research Interests:

• Congenital infections (e.g., syphilis, hepatitis B)
• Post-marketing vaccine surveillance and safety
• Rural pediatric workforce development
• Epidemiological studies in pediatric populations

Key Research Contributions: His work analyzes adverse events of novel therapies like nirsevimab, evaluates diagnostic protocols for congenital syphilis, and explores social network factors influencing rural pediatrician recruitment. Recent studies address hepatitis B epidemiology in children and anaphylaxis risks post-COVID-19 vaccination.

Grants & Collaborations: Involved as Investigator in the BabyVax project (2022–2024), funded by Western Australia’s Department of Health. Collaborates with institutions on infection surveillance and public health initiatives.
