Tigran Serzhik Simyan is a Professor at the Department of Foreign Literature within the Faculty of European Languages and Communication at Yerevan State University. Born in 1980, he has been actively involved in academic work since 2016, contributing to fields spanning German literature, semiotics, and cultural memory studies. His affiliations include serving as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal Urbis et Orbis: Microhistory and Semiology of the City since 2021.

His research focuses on semiotic analysis of urban spaces, cultural memory, German literature from the 17th to 20th centuries, and historical methodologies. His recent publications examine semiotic translations in Sergei Parajanov’s films, linguistic politics in the Caucasus, and urban semiotics across Yerevan, Gabrovo, and Tiflis.
Simyan has received multiple international scholarships including five DAAD Scholarships (2009-2022) and a KAAD Program Scholarship (2012-2013). His work bridges literary analysis, visual culture, and interdisciplinary methodologies, with a particular emphasis on Soviet-era artistic resistance and semiotic transformations in urban environments.
