Tianxiang Hu is an Assistant Professor at the Georgia Cancer Center and Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University. His research focuses on molecular mechanisms of leukemia initiation and progression, particularly in FGFR1 fusion kinase-driven Stem Cell Leukemia/Lymphoma syndrome (SCLL).
- PhD in Developmental Biology, Wuhan University (2011)
Hu's work spans three main areas: miRNA regulation in SCLL, FGFR1 fusion kinase activation of oncogenes like c-Myc and Shp2, and Rho family GTPases' role in leukemogenesis. His studies use syngeneic mouse models and human cell models (NSG mice) to explore immune evasion, signaling pathways, and therapeutic strategies.
Recent research trends highlight immune suppression via PD-L1, arginase, and MDSCs, as well as metabolic reprogramming and microbiome modulation in leukemia. His publications include high-impact studies on FGFR1 truncation, miR-17/92 cluster, and IRAK1-IFNγ signaling.
Scientific Awards:
- Young Investigator Program Grants (SOHO 2021, 2022)
- Outstanding Young Basic Science Faculty Award (Medical College of Georgia, 2021)
- Research Excellence Award (Georgia Cancer Center, 2017)
- 2nd Prize, Wuhan University Research Innovation Competition (2011)
Hu serves on advisory boards for Georgia Cancer Center shared resources (Bioinformatics, Integrated Genomics, Flow Cytometry) and reviews for journals including Frontiers in Oncology and Leukemia. His lab investigates immune evasion mechanisms to guide novel cancer therapies.
