Dr. Tian Li is an Associate Professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University, effective August 2025, and holds the Perry Academic Excellence Scholar title. She is a Packard Fellow for Science and Engineering and Kavli Fellow by the National Academy of Sciences. Her research focuses on redesigning naturally nanostructured materials for energy, water, wearable technology, and sustainable manufacturing. Key projects include developing transparent wood composites, radiative cooling systems, and bio-inspired materials for thermal management and energy efficiency.
Her research interests span thermodynamics, heat/mass transfer, and applications in biomedical devices, human-machine interaction, and advanced materials. Notable achievements include publications in Nature, Science, and Nature Materials, alongside awards such as the Violet B. Haas Fellowship and Forbes 30 Under 30 recognition.
