Dr Thushari Atapattu Mudiyanselage serves as a Grant-Funded Researcher (A) at the University of Adelaide's School of Computer and Mathematical Sciences within the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology. She leads and co-founded the Learning Technology for Social Good (LT4SG) research group and contributes to the Computer Science Education Research Group.
Her research centers on latent discourse analysis in natural language text corpora, developing computational models to enhance human communication processes. Key interests include text mining, natural language processing, discourse processing, and educational technology, with specific projects examining linguistic fingerprints for cyberbullying detection, mental health language modeling via social media, teacher discourse impact in MOOCs, cognitive engagement measurement in online professional development, and language patterns in learner confusion states.
As an active supervisor eligible for Masters and PhD candidates, she emphasizes interdisciplinary connections between TEXT, DISCOURSE, LANGUAGE, and COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGY & MIND. Her work bridges computational linguistics with educational applications in massive open online course environments.
