Thorsten Völker is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at Bremen University of Applied Sciences. He has served as Head of the Electrical Engineering B.Eng. program since 2015 and is a member of the Joint Committee of the department since 2020. Additionally, he participates in the Technical Committee 02 of ASIIN eV (Accreditation Agency for Study Programs in Engineering, Computer Science, Natural Sciences, and Mathematics).

Recent research trends highlight expertise in renewable energy systems, hydrogen technology, and smart grid applications. Specific subfields include PEM electrolysis, fuel cell propulsion, grid-friendly EV charging, and decentralized energy communities.
