Thorsten Burmester serves as a Professor in the Department of Biology at the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences, University of Hamburg. He is an active Participating Researcher in the Research Training Group 2530 (GRK 2530), which focuses on interdisciplinary estuarine research (Ästuare).
His research centers on Biology and Marine Biology with specialization in Estuarine Ecology and Environmental Science. This work examines complex dynamics of aquatic ecosystems, particularly estuaries, through interdisciplinary approaches involving biological, ecological, and environmental systems analysis.
