Dr. Thomas Walsh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Education at Maynooth University. He joined in 2014 after roles as a primary school teacher, researcher, and inspector at the Department of Education and Skills. His education includes a B.Ed from St. Patrick’s College Drumcondra, M.Ed and PhD from NUI Maynooth, and an Advanced Diploma in Law and Education from Kings Inns.
Research focuses on education history, curriculum development, teacher education, and policy. He teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programs (BSc.Ed, PME, M.Ed, Ed.D, PhD) and coordinates the PhD program. Leadership roles include Deputy Head of Department and Chair of the Maynooth University Social Research Ethics Subcommittee.
Publications span books, peer-reviewed articles, and policy contributions, emphasizing Irish education history and curriculum reform. Awards include the Eochair Funding Scheme Award and Teaching Council grants. He collaborates with institutions like Northwestern University and the Centre Culturel Irlandais.
