Thomas V. Martin, MD is an Associate Professor of Urology and Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs at the Yale School of Medicine. He specializes in minimally invasive surgical approaches to urologic cancers, urinary tract stones, and prostate disease. Dr. Martin completed his BS at Georgetown University (1985), MD at the University of Connecticut (1989), residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital (1994), and a fellowship in Endourology at Cornell University Medical Center (1996). He has been recognized as a Connecticut Top Doctor multiple times and has led efforts to advance robotic surgery in Southern Connecticut.
His clinical interests include prostate and kidney cancer surgery, robotic and laparoscopic techniques, and benign prostatic hyperplasia. Dr. Martin emphasizes patient education and has published widely on topics such as robotic cystectomy outcomes, ureteral stent safety during the pandemic, and urologic education history. He has won teaching awards and collaborates frequently with colleagues on translational and clinical research.
Dr. Martin’s research focuses on surgical innovation and outcomes, with notable work in robotic surgery efficacy and prostate cancer management. His awards highlight his clinical excellence, and he maintains affiliations with the Yale Cancer Center and Prostate & Urologic Cancers Program.
