Thomas THIVILLON is a development economist specializing in environmental/energy, health, and gender inequality. He is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Bordeaux School of Economics (BSE) affiliated with DIAL (IRD, CNRS, Dauphine-PSL). He received his PhD in Economics from Paris Dauphine University - PSL in 2022. His work combines experimental and non-experimental methods, with fieldwork in Burkina Faso.
Education: PhD in Economics (2022, Paris Dauphine University - PSL); earlier work in non-profit sector focused on energy access in developing countries.
Research interests include clean cooking technology adoption, health impacts of air pollution, and gender disparities in household production activities. Notable contributions include a Program Chair Award-winning study on climate/environmental health and a Revise & Resubmit at the Journal of Health Economics.
Upcoming role: Postdoctoral fellow at IRD (2025-26). Active in grants such as the Fund for Innovation in Development (FID)-funded electric cooking pilot study. Collaborates on projects analyzing fuel stacking, rebound effects, and LPG subsidies' unintended consequences.
