Thomas Slagle

Thomas Slagle is an Assistant Professor of Composition at the University of Pittsburgh, affiliated with the Division of Communication and the Arts. His research focuses on applied linguistics, writing pedagogy, and curriculum design for developmental writing instruction.

• MA in English, Youngstown State University (2018)
• BA in English with minor in Linguistics, Youngstown State University (2016)

His expertise spans corpus linguistics, developmental writing instruction, and transfer pedagogies, with a recent publication in the Journal of Basic Writing exploring metalinguistic awareness in writing development. He also contributed forthcoming chapters on institutional habitus and macro-genre in writing education.
