Thomas Schwentick is a Full Professor (W3) for Theoretical Computer Science (Logic in Computer Science) at TU Dortmund University, Germany, since 2005. He has held Associate Professor positions at Philipps-Universität Marburg (2001-2005) and Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena (2001, 04-09), and research associate roles at Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (1990-2001).

- PhD in Theoretical Computer Science (Mainz, 1990-1995) under Clemens Lautemann
- Diploma in Mathematics (Mainz, 1989)
His research focuses on the intersection of logic, database theory, automata theory, and computational complexity. He has secured significant grants from Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and the EU 7th Framework, including €240,400 for research on dynamic logic expressiveness and €2,032,000 for XML foundations projects.
