Thomas Schwentick is a Full Professor (W3) for Theoretical Computer Science (Logic in Computer Science) at TU Dortmund University, Germany, since 2005. He has held Associate Professor positions at Philipps-Universität Marburg (2001-2005) and Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena (2001, 04-09), and research associate roles at Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (1990-2001).

He has secured significant grants from Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and the EU 7th Framework, including €240,400 for research on dynamic logic expressiveness and €2,032,000 for XML foundations projects.
