Thomas Schreier-Alt

Thomas Schreier-Alt is a Professor and Dean of Automotive Engineering PLUS at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences (RWU), where he also serves as Equal Opportunities Officer. His leadership spans academic administration and diversity advocacy within the engineering faculty.

His academic credentials include a Doctorate in Engineering from TU Berlin (2007) with thesis "Polymer Encapsulation of Mechatronic Systems" and a Physics degree from the University of Tübingen (1989-1995).

Professor Schreier-Alt's research concentrates on advanced materials applications, particularly Plastics Technology and Smart Materials integrated with Bionics principles. His industrial background in mechatronic systems and polymer engineering drives innovation in automotive material solutions, emphasizing practical implementation of material science.

Prior to RWU, he held significant industry roles including Group Leader and Deputy Department Head at Fraunhofer IZM (2002-2015), Process Engineer at EPCOS AG (1999-2001), and Development Engineer at BC Components BEYSCHLAG GmbH (1996-1999), providing substantial real-world context to his academic work.
