Prof. Dr. Thomas Schleid is Professor and Director of the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Stuttgart, specializing in inorganic solid-state chemistry. He has served as Dean of Faculty and manages research on rare-earth chalcogenides and borates.

Research explores novel synthetic pathways for lanthanoid nitride chalcogenides, fluoride oxoselenates, and hydro-closo-borates with applications in luminescence and materials science. Recent work includes bismuth undecahydro-closo-dodecaborane synthesis.
Awarded the Terrae Rarae Prize for contributions to rare-earth chemistry. Leads collaborative projects on functional pigments and ceramic components for medical applications.
