Thomas Ratka

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Dr. Thomas Ratka, LL.M. is a Professor at the University of Continuing Education Krems, where he heads the Department of Law and International Relations and the Division of Corporate, Company, and Capital Markets Law. He also serves as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Business and Globalization. Ratka has been with the university since 2013 and previously held roles as Vice Rector for Teaching/Continuing Academic Education (2017–2021).

• Education: Dual PhDs in Law and History from Austrian institutions, LL.M. in European Economic and International Tax Law.

Ratka’s research focuses on Corporate Law, European Union Law, Private Medical Law, and International Tax Law. His work includes extensive commentary on Austrian legal statutes like the UGB, GmbHG, and ÄrzteG, emphasizing practical applications in healthcare and corporate governance.

His recent articles (2024–2023) span Corporate Law, Medical Law, and Insurance Law, with trends in EU regulatory frameworks, legal certainty, and healthcare compliance. Notable projects include European and U.S. Asylum Policies (funded by the Austrian National Bank Jubilee Fund) and editorial leadership in the Wiener Kommentar zum GmbHG.

Ratka has led numerous research projects, contributed to legal textbooks, and presented at international conferences, including topics like corporate liability and digitalization in healthcare law.
