Thomas Pegelow Kaplan is a Professor of History and holder of the Louis P. Singer Endowed Chair in Jewish History at the University of Colorado Boulder. He specializes in Holocaust studies, modern German-Jewish history, and transnational history. His research focuses on linguistic violence, Jewish journalism networks, and Jewish petitioning practices during the Holocaust.
Education: B.A. from Eberhard-Karls University Tübingen, Germany; M.A. and Ph.D. in Modern European History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Research interests include the historiography of genocide, Central European cultural history, and methodologies for transnational history. His recent work examines global dimensions of Holocaust memory and postwar protest movements.
Key contributions include groundbreaking studies on Nazi linguistic strategies, transnational German-Jewish journalism, and Jewish petitions as acts of resistance. His edited volumes have redefined scholarly approaches to Holocaust agency and historiography.
