Thomas Pearce is a transdisciplinary design researcher, practitioner, and educator at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar's Faculty of Art and Design. His work bridges experimental design, digital fabrication, historical reconstruction, and technological subversion. He holds a PhD in Architecture from University College London (Bartlett), along with degrees in Cultural History (KU Leuven), Architecture (TU Berlin), and a B.Sc. in Architecture.
- Education: BA/MA Cultural History (KU Leuven), B.Sc. Architecture (TU Berlin), M.Arch/PhD (Bartlett, UCL).
- Teaching Experience: Previously a lecturer at Bartlett School of Architecture (2014–2019), and visiting critic at institutions like UC San Diego and UdK Berlin.
His research emphasizes the dual role of digital technologies as tools for precision and generators of creative uncertainty. Projects such as IrreguLAB and Postdigital Stake God explore non-standard fabrication and speculative design. He leads courses on digital-material surfaces, mixed reality, and performance-driven design.
Thomas actively engages in collaborative workshops and projects, including Solar Kiln and Crooked Playroom, which blend art, architecture, and technology. His pedagogical approach prioritizes experimentation, failure, and interdisciplinary innovation.
