Thomas P. Zwaka

Thomas P. Zwaka is a Professor in the Department of Cell, Developmental & Regenerative Biology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. His research focuses on stem cell biology with key projects in cellular reprogramming, quantum biological mechanisms in embryonic development, and retrotransposon regulation during embryogenesis.

Research areas include:

• Molecular control of stem cells through THAP family proteins
• Development of Parkinson's disease models using midbrain organoids
• Cell competition mechanisms in early embryogenesis
• Quantum physics applications in cellular organization

He has founded Paratus Sciences and maintains an active research program with industry collaborations. Current work explores neuroprotective molecule screening and evolutionary conservation strategies using stem cell technologies.
