Thomas Ngo serves as Assistant Professor (Junior Professor) leading the Artificial Intelligence and Digitalization for Batteries research group at the Institute for Power Electronics and Electrical Drives (ISEA), within RWTH Aachen University's Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. Based at Campus-Boulevard 89 in Aachen, his role focuses on integrating advanced computational methods with battery technology development.
His research spans critical areas including AI-driven battery analytics, digital twin development for electrochemical systems, and optimization of battery management architectures. Key interests encompass predictive modeling of aging mechanisms, real-time state estimation algorithms, and digital infrastructure for grid-integrated storage systems. This work directly supports ISEA's strategic initiatives in sustainable energy conversion and storage.
Ngo actively contributes to the institute's educational mission through the new M.Sc. program in "Battery Science and Technology in Engineering" and specialized seminars on lithium-ion battery applications for electromobility and stationary storage. His research aligns with ISEA's flagship projects including the 5 MW Battery Storage facility and CARL Center collaborations, advancing Germany's battery technology ecosystem through industry-academia partnerships.
