Dr. Thomas Knight is a Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Economics at the University of Florida. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Florida (2014), an M.Sc. in Economics of Competition and Regulation from Tilburg University (2009), and a B.A. in Economics and Environmental Studies from New College of Florida (2007). His research focuses on the economics of education, experimental economics, and labor economics, particularly examining how students and workers respond to evaluative feedback. He also serves as Program Director for the M.A. in Econometric and Data Analysis program, overseeing curriculum development, admissions, and career support. Under his leadership as Department Chair, the Economics major has grown by 30%, new programs were launched, and faculty research productivity increased by over 50%. He is a Research Associate at the Public Policy Research Center and has pioneered initiatives such as a residential undergraduate program and a forthcoming fully online M.A. format.
His research explores gender bias in evaluations, antitrust policy, and political behavior.
