Prof. Dr. Thomas Kissinger is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at TU Ilmenau and head of the Group for Nanofabrication and Nanometrology. His research focuses on precision machines for nanometer-scale production and analysis, interferometric measuring devices, and applications in fiber optics, pressure/force sensors. He holds a PhD in optical interferometry from Cranfield University (UK), awarded the 'Lord Kings Norton Medal' for his dissertation. Previously, he worked in industry and as a Lecturer at Cranfield, developing high-precision measurement technologies for aerospace and robotics.
