Thomas Just

Thomas Just serves as a Teaching Assistant Professor within the Future Security Initiative at Arizona State University’s School of Politics and Global Studies. His research focuses on legal and public diplomacy strategies to counter extremist ideologies and promote reconciliation in post-traumatic societies. Previously, he held roles as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Northern Arizona University and Lecturer at the University of Georgia. He earned a Ph.D. in International Relations from Florida International University (2017), an M.P.P. from Pepperdine University (2011), and a B.A. from Baylor University (2009).

Research Interests: Extremism countermeasures, public diplomacy, conflict resolution, antisemitism studies, and post-communist recovery. His award-winning work includes the UNESCO Young Ambassador for Peace and Reconciliation honor and his 2024 book on antisemitism strategies in Germany and Poland.

Publications: His recent work analyzes Germany’s post-reunification antisemitism policies (2021) and explores Russia’s post-Cold War public diplomacy (2016). He also examines the Jewish revival in Poland through domestic policy frameworks (2015).

Awards & Grants: Recognized by UNESCO for peace reconciliation work. No formal grants listed, but his postdoctoral fellowship at NAU highlights prior institutional support.
