معرفی
Thomas Jespersen is a Professor at the Department of Biomedical Sciences within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen. His research focuses on pathological changes in cardiac structure and electrophysiology leading to cardiac dysfunction and arrhythmias, particularly those driven by lifestyle risk factors including sleep apnea, obesity, and vascular disorders.
His research interests integrate translational approaches combining human studies with in vivo and ex vivo large animal and rodent models, supported by cellular, histological, and molecular analyses. Advanced cardiac imaging techniques including MRI, elastography, and electro-anatomical mapping form the cornerstone of his investigations into cardiac structural and electrical remodeling.
Analysis of his 2025 publication portfolio reveals strong emphasis on cutting-edge cardiac interventions (pulsed-field ablation), AI applications in cardiology, obesity-related cardiac pathology, and novel diagnostic approaches for arrhythmias. Key thematic areas include atrial fibrillation mechanisms, ventricular tachycardia ablation, cardiac amyloidosis diagnosis, and obesity-induced myocardial damage.
His research group maintains active international collaborations across multiple continents, with significant contributions to understanding arrhythmia pathophysiology through both clinical and experimental models.
