Thomas Fisher

Thomas Fisher is a Professor of Architecture at the University of Minnesota’s College of Design, where he also serves as Director of the Minnesota Design Center and Director of MSMD. Holding the Dayton Hudson Chair in Urban Design, Fisher combines academic leadership with editorial and publishing expertise.

Fisher’s research spans urban design, system design, and ethics, with a focus on the intersection of architectural theory, criticism, and design justice. His work emphasizes the societal impact of architecture and urban planning.

Scientific awards and recognition include being named one of the top-25 design educators by Design Intelligence four times and recognized in 2005 as the fifth most published writer on architecture in the U.S.
