Dr. Eiwegger's research focuses on the immunological mechanisms of food allergy and asthma in children, with a strong emphasis on immune tolerance, diagnostic innovation, and novel therapies such as oral and epicutaneous immunotherapy. His lab develops human in vitro models of the gut to study allergic responses at the cellular level. He has published over 140 peer-reviewed articles, primarily in top-tier allergy and immunology journals, with consistent output through 2025. His work frequently involves investigator-initiated trials and collaborations across North America and Europe.
The recent publications demonstrate a clear trend toward clinical translation, with studies on biologics, anaphylaxis biomarkers, and long-term cohort research such as the PreCareFemCohort. His expertise is recognized through editorial roles at Allergy and leadership in the Biologics Working Group of EAACI. He has received multiple scientific awards, including the Science Prize of the State of Lower Austria in 2023 and 2024.
