معرفی
Thomas Davies is a postdoctoral researcher in Evolutionary Anthropology, currently affiliated with the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology (2023–Present) and the University of Kent (2022–Present). His work focuses on hominin dental evolution and geometric morphometrics.
- PhD (2017–2021) from the Leipzig School of Human Origins at the Max Planck Institute, with a thesis on tooth morphology and early Homo evolution.
- MSc by Research (2016–2017) in Biological Anthropology at the University of Kent.
- MSci (2011–2015) in Zoology at University College London.
Research interests center on tooth morphology, hominin systematics, and geometric morphometrics. His publications (15 most recent) span topics like dental evolution in early Homo, hominin migration patterns, and primate molar phylogeny. Techniques include micro-CT scanning and 3D shape analysis.
Conference presentations include
- European Society for the Study of Human Evolution (2021–2022)
- International Symposium on Dental Morphology (2022)
- American Association of Physical Anthropologists (2018)
Research experience includes
- Operating micro-CT scanners at Max Planck Institute
- Fieldwork studying hominin teeth at global museum collections
- Designing R protocols for geometric morphometric analysis
