Thomas C. Connolly is an Associate Professor of French with tenure and DUS at Yale University's Department of French. He holds a BA from the University of Oxford (2002), a Maîtrise and DEA from Université de Paris IV–La Sorbonne (2005), and a PhD in Comparative Literature from Harvard University (2012). His research focuses on 19th- to 21st-century French, francophone, Maghrebi, and Caribbean poetry, emphasizing prose poetry, ekphrasis, and intersections between literature and visual arts. His award-winning work includes A Poetic Genealogy of North African Literature (2020) and Paul Celan’s Unfinished Poetics (2018). He guest-edited Yale French Studies issues on North African Poetry (2020) and is preparing a volume on Baudelaire. Connolly teaches courses on modern French poetry, ekphrasis, and Maghrebi literature.
