Thomas Blennau serves as the Director of the Lexy and Samuel S. Lionel ’40, ‘10HON Externship Program and Employer Outreach at St. John’s University School of Law, alongside his role as an Adjunct Professor. He holds a B.B.A. from Adelphi University (1993) and a J.D., cum laude, from St. John’s Law (2002), graduating in the top 15% of his class. His professional background includes legal roles at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, Deutsche Bank AG, and his own law practice, focusing on special education matters.
As Externship Program Director, Blennau develops externship opportunities across private, public, corporate, and governmental sectors to enhance students’ practical lawyering skills. He teaches Externship Seminar courses and a 1L lawyering skills course. His work emphasizes strengthening employer relationships and generating employment/externship opportunities for students and alumni through nationwide outreach.
Blennau’s efforts are centered on bridging academic legal training with real-world practice, leveraging his industry experience to shape student career trajectories.
