Thomas A. DiPrete

Thomas A. DiPrete serves as Giddings Professor of Sociology at Columbia University and holds leadership positions as co-director of the Institute for Social and Economic Research and Policy (ISERP) and co-director of the Center for the Study of Wealth and Inequality. He is also a faculty member of the Columbia Population Research Center.

His educational background includes a B.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. from Columbia University. Prior academic appointments span the University of Chicago, Duke University, and the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

DiPrete's research focuses on social stratification, demography, education, economic sociology, and quantitative methodology, with particular expertise in comparative analysis.
