His research focuses on bacterial biofilms, particularly the molecular mechanisms underlying biofilm-specific antibiotic resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. He investigates how environmental signals trigger biofilm formation and how biofilm-grown cells develop hyper-resistance to antimicrobial agents. His lab employs high-throughput screening systems to identify biofilm mutants with reduced antibiotic resistance, aiming to uncover novel therapeutic strategies for biofilm-related infections such as cystic fibrosis and medical implant-associated nosocomial infections.
Recent publications highlight his work on sigma factor regulation (RpoN/RpoS), small RNA roles in biofilm formation, peptide-based virulence suppression, and nanoparticle applications in infection control. His studies span genetic analysis, biochemical pathways, and translational approaches for clinical applications.
