Theresa Kern

Theresa Kern is a researcher at the Institute of Agricultural Engineering, part of the Department of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU). Her work focuses on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of innovative agricultural systems, particularly Agrivoltaics and Sustainability Assessment. She is involved in projects funded by the European Commission, Austrian Federal Ministries, and the City of Vienna, including energy transition models and biodiversity-promoting agricultural systems.

Her research integrates renewable energy into farming, emphasizing environmental impact and climate change mitigation. Key projects include SoLAgri (2024-2026) and Potential analysis of AgroVoltaics in Austria (2020-2023). She has presented at conferences like SETAC Europe, AgriVoltaics World Conference, and the Austrian Klimatag, where she received a 3rd-place poster award in 2023.

Kern holds a Master’s degree in Material and Energetic Exploitation of Renewable Raw Materials (2020) and a Bachelor’s in Environment and Bioresources Management (2017), both from BOKU. Her recent publications explore agricultural sustainability through ecological modeling and energy transition strategies.
