Theodoros Stouraitis is a researcher at the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, School of Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), affiliated with the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab. He works at the Interactive Robotics Group under the supervision of Prof. Julie Shah.
His research focuses on physical dyadic interactions between humans and robots, aiming to enable robots to collaborate with humans as naturally as human-human collaboration. He develops optimal control methods for hybrid problems (e.g., co-manipulation with contact changes) and utilizes learning methods to estimate unobserved interaction components and predict uncertain human behavior.
Dr. Stouraitis holds a PhD in Robotics from the University of Edinburgh, UK, a MSc in Artificial Intelligence from the same institution, and a Diploma in Computer Engineering and Informatics from the University of Patras, Greece. Prior to his PhD, he worked as a Research Assistant for three years at the Robotics and Mechatronics Institute of DLR (German Aerospace Center).
His research interests span Robotics, Human-Robot Interaction, Optimal Control, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Control Systems. He is involved in creating control algorithms for human-robot collaboration.
