Theodoros Diasakos

Theodoros Diasakos is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of York. Previously, he held academic roles at the University of Stirling, the University of St Andrews, and Collegio Carlo Alberto. He is also a visiting professor at the University of Bergamo. His roles at York include Programme Director for the MSc Finance programme and co-organiser of the departmental internal seminar series.

Research Interests: Theo’s work bridges pure and applied economic theory, with a focus on financial economics, asset pricing, and game theory. His research often addresses theoretical challenges in economics and finance, such as market completeness, adverse selection, and behavioral economics. He has collaborated across disciplines, integrating mathematical rigor with empirical analysis.

Recent Research Trends: Recent articles explore demand function invertibility, dynamic market completeness under stochastic processes, and optimal insurance mechanisms. Earlier work includes studies on criminal sentencing impacts, volunteering behavior, and bounded rationality in decision-making.

Grants: He led the project “Recentralisation reform in Vietnam: an analysis of its effects on economic activity and corruption”, funded by the British Council International Science Partnerships Fund (£99K).

Labs/Teams: Theo has contributed to the Scottish Graduate Programme in Economics through dissertation coordination and has designed curricula for MSc programmes in Digital Banking & Finance and Finance & Economics.
