Theodore S. Tomeny is an Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies at the Department of Psychology, University of Alabama. He leads the Research on Autism and Families (RAF) Lab and collaborates with the University of Alabama ASD Clinic, UA-ACTS program, and Alabama Research Institute on Aging.

Dr. Tomeny's research focuses on lifespan functioning in families of individuals with ASD and other developmental disabilities. Key areas include long-term care planning for aging families, sibling dynamics, caregiver support systems, and improving quality of life for neurodiverse populations. His lab examines cross-neurotype interactions and outreach to underserved families.
Recent publications highlight work on rural healthcare access, peer understanding of autism, and telehealth interventions. The lab collaborates with geropsychology experts and trains graduate students in clinical child psychology. Current projects include attitude studies of neurotypical college students, social interaction experiences for autistic adults, and family communication dynamics.
