Thane Erickson

Thane Erickson is a Clinical Professor at Seattle Pacific University’s School of Psychology, Family and Community, where he has worked since 2008. He serves as Director of the CPY Internship program and teaches undergraduate Abnormal Psychology, alongside graduate courses in statistics, personality theory, and cognitive-behavioral therapy.

Dr. Erickson’s research explores how interpersonal processes intersect with personality, emotional disorders (anxiety and depression), well-being, and spirituality. His team examines topics like social aspects of worry, moral emotions (elevation, gratitude), integrative cognitive-behavioral interventions, and the impact of character strengths on stress hormones. His publications reflect work on stress mechanisms, mindfulness therapies for PTSD, and cognitive-behavioral frameworks for anxiety and depression.

He maintains a private practice focused on evidence-based treatments for anxiety and depression. Associated research labs include the Couple Identity and Faith (CIF) Study and the Trauma Therapy Experiences (TTE) Study, which align with his clinical and academic interests.
