Thanasis Lianeas is a Lecturer at both the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He holds a PhD from NTUA's School of Electrical and Computer Engineering and has held postdoctoral positions at NTUA and the University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on algorithmic game theory, network optimization, and risk-averse decision-making in systems like congestion games and routing networks.
Education:
- PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, NTUA (supervised by Dimitris Fotakis and Stathis Zachos)
- Graduate Program in Logic, Algorithms, and Computation, NTUA
- Undergraduate Diploma in Applied Mathematics and Physics, NTUA
Research Interests: Thanasis explores theoretical and applied aspects of network systems, including selfish routing, congestion games, and the impact of risk-averse strategies. His work often bridges algorithm design with economic principles to improve network efficiency and social welfare.
Publications: His recent work addresses Braess's paradox resolution, no-regret learning dynamics, and equilibrium computation in complex networks. Key themes include optimizing network flows under strategic operators and designing mechanisms for risk-aware systems.
Lab/Teams: Affiliated with CORELab (Center for Research and Applications of Data Analysis and Algorithmics) at NTUA.
