Dr. Tessa Morgan is an Early Career Wellcome Fellow and Research Associate in the Applied Social Science Group within the Primary Care Unit of the Department of Public Health and Primary Care at the University of Cambridge. Her interdisciplinary work bridges public health, sociology, and medical anthropology with a focus on vulnerable populations and sensitive health issues.
Her research centers on mental health service provision for young survivors of sexual violence and the experiences of youth with social work involvement in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). She specializes in co-produced research methodologies involving lived experience researchers on trauma-related topics. Previous work includes investigations into gender and age-related equity in end-of-life care and social isolation among diverse older populations, reflecting her commitment to health equity across the lifespan.
Dr. Morgan holds a prestigious Wellcome Early Career Fellowship supporting her independent research program. She serves as qualitative lead for the NIHR-funded COACHES study examining CAMHS accessibility for at-risk youth, demonstrating her expertise in mixed-methods approaches to complex public health challenges.
As an active member of the Applied Social Science Group, she contributes to collaborative initiatives addressing behavior change, health services research, and community engagement through participatory methodologies that prioritize marginalized voices in health system design.
