Dr Tess Somervell
Lecturer in English at Worcester College, University of Oxford. Specializes in literature from the Restoration to Romantic periods with a focus on ecocriticism, georgic poetry, and temporal analysis in long poems. Affiliated with the Faculty of English Language & Literature.
Research interests include climate in literature, genre evolution, and interdisciplinary approaches to environmental humanities. Published major works such as Reading Time in the Long Poem (2023) and co-edited Georgic Literature and the Environment (2022). Recent publications explore meteorology in Gray's works, the sublime in environmental contexts, and John Clare's georgic traditions.
Active in academic publishing across journals like Green Letters and Studies in Romanticism, with contributions to edited collections on the Anthropocene and climate crisis narratives.
