Dr. Terry Sunderland is a Professor at the University of British Columbia within the Faculty of Forestry and Department of Forest and Conservation Sciences. His research focuses on integrated landscape approaches that reconcile forest conservation with food security and sustainable development. He leads the SunderlandLab and directs the (2018-2023), which operationalizes landscape approaches for nature, development, and sustainability. His work bridges ecology, policy, and human well-being across tropical regions.

He actively contributes to global policy dialogues through publications with Cambridge University Press, FAO, and CIFOR.
