Terry Poucette is an Indigenous scholar and leader from the Stoney-Nakoda First Nations of Treaty Seven in Alberta. She holds a BA in First Nations Studies, an MA, and a PhD in Public Administration, with a dissertation focused on effective First Nations governance. Her career spans senior management roles in on-reserve First Nations organizations in Alberta and BC. She previously served as an Assistant Teaching Professor and Manager of the Diploma in Indigenous Community Development and Governance at the University of Victoria's School of Public Policy and Administration. Currently, she is Team Lead in the Indigenous Relations Office at the City of Calgary.
Her research prioritizes First Nations transition from the Indian Act to self-governance, emphasizing the need for Indigenous-led public administration. Terry advocates for post-secondary programs to strengthen Indigenous management and leadership capacities. She actively educates the public on colonial impacts through presentations and publications, focusing on decolonizing governance structures.
