Dr. Terry Lindvall holds the C.S. Lewis Endowed Chair of Communication and Christian Thought at Virginia Wesleyan College. He specializes in religious satire, film studies, and theology, with notable works such as Divine Film Comedies (2016) and More God Mocks (2015). Lindvall teaches courses like Christian Theology and Film, Sitcoms, and offers a study abroad program to Oxford. He has authored ten books, including Surprised by Laughter (2012) and Sanctuary Cinema (2011). Awards include the Frank and Jane P. Batten Distinguished Faculty Award and Samuel Nelson Gray Distinguished Professor Award. His research blends humor studies with religious and filmic analysis, exploring topics like biblical narratives, comedy sub-genres, and religious satire across history.
Previously taught at Duke University Divinity School, William and Mary, and Regent University.
