Dr. Teresa Sumpter is an Associate Professor of Music and Coordinator of Keyboard Studies at Mars Hill University. She teaches applied piano, group piano, piano literature, pedagogy, and music history. She holds a Ph.D. in Music Education (Piano Pedagogy, University of Oklahoma), an MBA (West Virginia University), and degrees in Piano Performance (Ball State University). Her professional roles include serving as Executive Director of the Yakima Symphony Orchestra and Sioux City Symphony Orchestra, and as a Visiting Evaluator for the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).

Her research focuses on piano pedagogy, creative studio environments, and financial management in music administration. Dr. Sumpter's leadership extends to her roles in music education advocacy and institutional accreditation. She combines academic rigor with practical administration, leveraging her dual expertise in music and business management.
