Prof. Teodora Boneva holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge and is a Professor of Applied Microeconomics at the University of Bonn, affiliated with the Institute for Applied Microeconomics (IAME) and the Cluster of Excellence ECONtribute: Markets and Public Policy. Her research focuses on behavioral economics, public policy evaluation, and understanding how societal beliefs influence support for policies related to gender equality, climate action, and social mobility. She employs experimental methods and large-scale surveys to assess policy feasibility and effectiveness.
Previously, she served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Zurich and an Associate Professor at the University of Oxford. Her work has been recognized with an ERC Starting Grant for studying gender inequality in labor markets, and she sits on the editorial board of The Review of Economic Studies.
Recent research highlights include global climate action surveys (Nature Climate Change, 2024) and analyses of pandemic impacts on mental health. Her studies often bridge microeconomic theory with real-world policy design, emphasizing cross-country comparisons and behavioral insights.
